Have you had a chance to read our Water Ionizer Buyer’s Guide?
It’s full of valuable information to help you choose the right ionizer for you. The Buyer’s Guide is also full of facts about ionized alkaline water and water ionizer machines.
Today I’d like to share with you my five favorite tips that are found in our Water Ionizer Buyer’s Guide.
Water Ionizer Tips
1) Filtration
I believe this is one of the most important aspects of a water ionizer machine. What good is ionized alkaline water if it’s not filtered to be clean and pure?
Recently there have been so many stories about dangerous chemicals in our tap water. The people of Flint, Michigan are suffering a water crisis.
I also came across the news that tap water for millions of Americans is contaminated with the same chemical made famous in the movie Erin Brockovich. I know that I want the best possible filter in my water ionizer machine.
Here are some helpful tips when looking at an ionizer’s filtration system:
- Look for a machine with 2 filters. One filter is not enough and there are plenty of machines on the market with 2 filters.
- Filter size matters! Longer cartridges offer better filtration than shorter ones.
- Make sure the filters are ceramic. They are very effective against bacteria, protozoa, and microbial cysts. You don’t want to be drinking that.
- Take note of the filter price. You get what you pay for when it comes to filters. Inexpensive filters usually mean they are not top quality. You don’t want to risk the health of you and your family by buying inferior filters.
- Use pre-filters when needed to ensure you have the best water coming out of your water ionizer machine, no matter what your source water.
2) Poisonous Chemicals
Speaking of our tap water being contaminated, did you know that some water ionizers use poisonous chemical “enhancers” to achieve their very high and very low pH levels?
This “enhancer” is made of sodium chloride and sodium hypochlorite. Sodium chloride is salt but sodium hypochlorite is bleach.
In that water ionizer’s owner’s manual, it says, “Do not install in an unventilated room for chlorine gases produced through electrolysis are highly toxic. Poisoning can result due to the gases that are given off during operation.”
Not only are these chemicals producing toxic gases, but they are also going through your water chamber.
I do not want to be around that machine! Choose an ionizer that can produce strong alkaline and acidic levels without poisonous additives.
3) Country of Origin
This is a very important factor to consider when deciding on what water ionizer you would like to purchase.
Choose a water ionizer made in either Korea or Japan. These two countries abide by strict labor laws, minimum wage laws, and safe working conditions.
Water ionizers made in countries other than Korea or Japan have also been found to use corrosive plate materials which can leach into your drinking water and make you sick.
Other countries are not as strictly regulated.
4) Warranty
Please be sure to read the fine print of every company’s warranty. Reading the warranty will give you a good idea of how the company stands behind their product.
Obviously, the best warranty is a lifetime guarantee on both PARTS and LABOR with zero stipulations!
5) Plates
Plates are the most important part of a water ionizer! There are so many different combinations when it comes to plates. Should you choose 5, 7, 9, 11 or even 13? How about solid, mesh or solid/mesh hybrid? Lastly, what material should your plates be made out of? For the answers to all of these questions, download our Buyer’s Guide.
