Tips to Stay Alkaline After Halloween

Halloween has come and gone this year.

If you’re anything like me, you grab a piece (or two) out of the kid’s bowl of collected candy every time you walk by.  I like to call this the “candy tax”, the parent’s share for taking the kids trick-or-treating around the neighborhood.

Maybe you have a good amount of the candy you were handing out left over.  No sense in letting it go bad.  Somebody has to eat it!

Tips to Stay Alkaline After Halloween

Here’s a little-known fact: Candy is acidic!

Whether it’s sour candy that makes your mouth pucker or smooth, delicious chocolate, it’s acidic!

This acidity can not only cause damage to your teeth (cavities), but it can also affect the overall acidity in your body.

Here is a cool experiment you can do with the kids to find out exactly how acidic your favorite treats are: Candy pH

Alkaline Tips to Combat Acidity

There are several ways to tackle those yummy, little acidic treats.

  1. Drink Ionized Alkaline Water.  This is the top tip because it’s the easiest and best way to decrease acidity.  Ionized alkaline water straight from your water ionizer machine is the freshest, most potent alkaline water.  Don’t have a water ionizer machine?  Check out our Buyer’s Guide for help on how to choose the perfect ionizer for you and your family.
  2. Eat Alkaline Food.  Some of the most alkaline foods include kale, cucumber, spinach, and avocado.  You can find some great alkaline recipes on our Pinterest board.
  3. Exercise.  Yes, everyone’s favorite, exercise.  However, you don’t have to hit the weights in the gym, unless you want to.  Going for a brisk walk is enough to get those acidic waste products moving out of your body.
